  • Water In Fuel Sensor Explained

When replacing the stock fuel filter you will need to either reuse the OEM water in fuel sensor, or purchase a replacement if yours is damaged or you would like to delete the stock sensor. The Factory sensor has never been very accurate and does not throw any check engine lights when not plugged in.

We offer 3 different options for these trucks:
    1. First we have a stock replacement that retains the drain and sensor that came on the truck
    2. Second we have a water in fuel drain only and this came on the Chevy Express and GMC Savanna with the Duramax engine
    3. Finally we have the DmaxStore Water In Fuel (WIF) Plug, made from black anodized aluminum.

It is very common to strip the stock plastic sensors when removing and replacing the fuel filter so we made the aluminum WIF plug to eliminate any issues of stripping. We also offer the Water Sensor Wrench that will fit all the plugs, drains, and sensors on the 6.6L Duramax trucks.
